Moonpelt bounded into the meadow, his paws swiftly moving across the plain and striped silver coat glimmering in the sunlight. A soft breeze blew past as the young tom weaved through the ferns, with Twilightpaw at his heels. Once they got toward the middled, the Silver warrior stopped and put himself into a sitting postition. He calmly curled his tail over his paws, as a warm breeze ruffled his fur and he looked back at his apprentice, a grin appearing on his face. Usually he was here to patrol or hunt, but this time he was training his first apprentice, Twilightpaw. He was Eager, yet determinted to train this young she-cat in the formidable warrior she would become. He slowly lifted his muzzle to sniff the air, smelling the faint strong tangy smell of prey. He turned his head to see Twilightpaw bounding toward him, her Black and white coat shimmering in the sunlight and her Golden paws padding on the soft dirt.

Twilightpaw bounded over to Moonpelt. "What are we going to learn today?" she asked excitedly. She looked around for a moment. The meadows grassy area filled with prey scents and excitment. She was hoping to learn to hunt, but Moonpelt was her mentor and he'd pick what to do. Twilightpaw was wanting to learn more than her sister Winterpaw, but that might not happen. The clouds in the sky were turning gray, and the sun was starting to hide behind some clouds.

Moonpelt looked down at the apprentice again, a grin appearing on his face at the eager young she-cat, as a soft breeze slowly blew past, ruffling their pelts. He meowed to the apprentice " Now that we are here, at the open meadow. We can start some training. He stopped for a moment, taking a minute to decide what they should practice first, hunting or fighting. Moonpelt finally decided and opened his mouth, to scent the air. Smelling some prey he looked back at the new apprentice and felt another soft wind blow past. He waited for a moment, then whispered to Twilightpaw,"There's something over there, it sounds like a mouse. They can feel vibrations, so you don't want to stalk it. Try pouncing on it when you get near enough, but kill it as soon as you can with your teeth."

Nodding vigerously, Twilightpaw dropped down into a kind of lopsided crouch. Trying not to make a noise, she pounced out of the grasses. As her paws left the moist ground, leaves rustled, and the mouse fled. Landing awkwardly, the young she-cat bounded after her prey, she wasn't going to lose it! But soon the mouse ran into a hole dug deep into the ground, too deep even to fit a paw in. Head hanging, Twilightpaw started to pad slowly back to Moonpelt. How am I going to turn into a warrior if I can't even catch a mouse? She thought miserably to herself. Scuffling her paws in the dirt, she mewed reluctantly to Moonpelt, "I lost it, I'm sorr-" She stopped in mid-mew, as her sharp eyes caught movment from where she had come. The mouse had scampered back out, now eating a seed of grass. Stalking over to the little brown body, she thought about Winterpaw, who probably had a whole pile of prey right now. Twilightpaw was very competitive, especially with her sister. This thought making her even more focused, and after pin-pointing the exact location of the mouse, she executed the perfect pounce, landing quietly on the little creature. Remembering what her mentor had said, she quickly took the mouse's life with one quick bite to the neck. Satisfyed, Twilightpaw took the lifeless body into her jaws, and looked around for Moonpelt. As she rushed back to Moonpelt, eyes shining, she could feel the warm blood gush into her mouth, making her mouth water. She was tempted to eat it there and then, but then she remembered, The Clan Comes First! Twilightpaw dropped the mouse at Moonpelt's paws, bouncing extaticly. "How did I do? First I lost it, but then it was stupid enough to come back! Did I do good? Am I going to be a good warrior?" Questions flooded out like a river that had been blocked for a moon. Well, what do you expect from an apprentice?

Eyes watching his apprentice carefully, Moonpelt sat up stright and fixed his gaze once more on the young she-cat as he examined her moves. Nodding his head as she first crawled with a sign of a slightly good crouch, he told himself We're going to need to work on the crouch later, its kind of lopsided. He hoped that she would be able to catch the prey, although he knew she wouldn't have much luck for he had forseen her next move: an akward landing. Holding back a sigh filled with bleakness, he flicked his ears a bit still alert for any predetor that might come near. As Twilightpaw stumbled after her prey, Moonpelt now knew for sure that she wasn't going to have any chance of catching that prey. Don't run after a rabbit! For Starclan's sake, you're now a WindClan cat! He waited patiently, and unhappily for his apprentice to return as he reminded himself that she was only a young apprentice so she couldn't be expected to do everything correctly on the first try. Waiting for he reply, he was about to reassure her that it was fine after, but then like an instant she had started stalking in the other direction. For a spilt second this confused the young warrior, but soon he knew that she had seen the rabbit come out again. A smile appeared on his face, for he was happy that she would be given another chance and perhaps this time she would succeed. Moonpelt strained his eyes once again on the young apprentice and bit back a sigh of relief at her perfect pounce. Its perfect! I think though we still might need to perfect her crouching and stalking. As she padded back to him, eyes beaming, Moonpelt let out a chuckle at her Ecstasy and elation. Sitting quitly at the same spot, the same smile on his face he waited for her awnser before replying himself. " You did perfect! You'll need to perfect your crouch later, but that was excellent for a first try and I'm sure when the time comes you'll be a fantastic warrior."

Twilightpaw purred, she loved hearing praise, especially from her mentor! After a moment, her smile switched to a frown. "Moonpelt, how do I make it so I don't rustle leaves when I pounce? And what about stalking, how do I get evened out?" More questions raced through her mind, but she stuck with those two. The day was getting on, and the sun was getting warmer. Twilightpaw streached, the warm sun making her pelt glitter. Turning her enthusiastic gaze back to her mentor, she tilted her head, and pricked her ears, "Can you teach me how to get those things perfect?" This was the perfect day, the young she-cat dicided. She was out in the sun, spending her energy learning how to make RiverClan thrive. She couldn't have asked for more.

Moonpelt purred with amusement as the young apprentice blurted out all those question at once. Ears twitching still with amusemnt, he took a deep breath to make sure that he wasn't giving any sign of laughter now when he spoke. Patiently, the young tom waited for Twilightpaw to ask him all the question she needed before he was going to reply to all of them. Slowly, Moonpelt nodded as the question were asked, sinking them in as well as getting ready for the awnser. Wow! She really does have a lot of question. I remember when I was an apprentice, I did the same exact thing to my mentor and I think that I surprised him with all of the questions. Anyway, I will teach her the same things my mentor taught me, but use more easier tactics. Getting back to reality, the silvery tom looked back at Twilightpaw and smiled at her gently before he were to awnser. " Yes, Yes and Yes. I'll explain to you how to get things perfect, but that shall take time and I'm sure you will make it great when the time comes. For now, we can practice on your stalking and being quiet, but tommorow we can start to fight. These two things work together when you hunt, but in order to succeed you need to perfect them. If you want to crouch or stalk correctly you have to consentrate at first. Your weight should be lifted so that your paws are as light as possible and thats how you can get to be quiet. As for stalking, you have to practice and getting it evened out. The only hint I can give you is that when you crouch your weight should be on your paws, only enough that you don't stumble over. (Sorry if its not right, but I don't know how to perfect stalking...)" Licking his paw he looked calmly at Twilightpaw and gave her a gentle smile, his ears still pricked. Swiping it over his ears, the Moonpelt concluded with the final instructions. " I'll give you an example of a crouch if you were to stalk a rabbit and you can try to test it on that leaf. Ready?"

"Ready!" Twilightpaw's enthusiastic mew rang out strongly. Settling down to watch her mentor, she tried her best to sit still, but it was near to impossible. Her blue eyes were watching her mentor so intently, she almost forgot to blink. As she awaited Moonpelt's next move, off-topic thoughts began to creep into her mind. When I can, I'll catch the biggest fish the clan has ever seen! Then, I'll fend off all of ThunderClan! No, maybe I'll lead battle party along with the Leader and Deputy! The thought of those things made the young apprentice's heart skip a beat, she was now truly happy. Kithood seemed like a far away memory, and Twilightpaw couldn't bear lounging around all day anymore. Being an apprentice kept her busy, and she liked that. Better yet, she was having lots of fun learning how to do work.
A broad grin streached from ear to ear as the she-cat now pricked her ears, now totally focused on watching her mentor. "Ready when you are Moonpelt!"

Giving his appretnice a warm smile, he crouched down to the floor and strained his eyes on a rock, just ahead of him. He murmered " Watch carefully now." and he pressed his underbelly close to the floor, carefully watching his pawsteps to not make a sound. The young warrior put each paw step in front of the other oh so carefully so that he would be as quiet as possible and did his best rabbit crouch. Once reaching the rock, he stood up quietly, not letting his fur rustle at the sound of the wind and he meowed with a flick of his tail, " Come here, now you try." He looked past the horizon to where the sun had just begun to rise and his thoughsts floated back to his family. With both of his parents gone, and his sister in ThunderClan, he wondered if he did have a family or not. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts he looked back at his apprentice and repeated " Come on now, lets go."

Head nodding silently, the lean, sleek apprentice lowered herself down, keeping what small weight she had on her paws. Moving carefully paw over paw, she lifted her tail hurriedly when it began to rustle the leaves underpaw. Keeping her belly high as to not make a noise, she continued slowly, sliding over the ground, like a serpant on the move. The young she-cat was taking her time on her first practise, she wanted to get the real feel of hunting. She reached the rock, and rose to a standing position. Turning around, she trotted back to Moonpelt, and sat, golden paws tucked neatly under herself. Tilting her head questioningly, she meowed to her mentor, "How was that? I know I went a bit slow, but I'll go faster next time!" A silly grin spreading over her face, Twilightpaw thought of running. She was no WindClan cat, but she did enjoy a nice run. The apprentice loved the feeling of the wind plastering down her fur, and air whipping you in the eyes. Speed, it was one of Twilightpaw's best friends.

The tom surveyed the young apprentice, his warm gaze resting upon her. Silver tail curled over his paws, he nodded to himself and a warm smile spread across his jaw. Perfect! She'll become a Warrior in no time. As she began trodding her way back to him, he sat calmly, his tail brushing against the ground under him, another grin placed on his face. He let out a warm hearted purr, as he awnsered " Perfect. With some practice I'm sure you'll get faster." Ears flicked at the sound of a rustle and he slightly turned to the object of the noise. His mouth ajar, he detected such a scent as prey and looked back at the young apprentice, his tail flicked to the direction of the sound. He murmered ever so softly, careful not to let the prey hear, " Hear that? It's a rabbit. Try to catch it." His eyes shifted to the rabbit, rather plump by the looks of it, as he leaned toward the apprentice and instructed it softly " Don't pounce , they'll hear you. If you slowly move towards it, the rabbit doesn't know you're there until you're right behind it and it's dead. You can kill with tooth or claw.

A silent nod was the single only movment the young apprentice made, as she locked her icy field of vision onto the unsuspecting rabbit. Like a banner, her black and white tail stuck out behind her, helping her keep her balance, while sinking down closer to the ground, eye level with the rabbit. The lush, green grasses brushed on her pelt, making her want to purr at the tickly feeling, but her jaw stayed tightly shut, soundproofing the world around her. Paw over paw, slowly but surely, Twilightpaw slank stealtily, like an adder, slithering through the grasses and reeds. Blue orbs alight with the joy of the hunt, she came within tails length of her prey. With a thanks to StarClan that she was downwind, and behind the rabbit, she narrowed her eyes, and focused. All thinking and mental power was focused toward the death of this rabbit, so that the Clan could eat, it was breathtaking how attentive the apprentice could be when she wanted to. Without another moment's hesitation, a black paw lashed out like a snake, and snagged the haunches of the rabbit. With one, smooth, fluid movement, the RiverClan cat propelled herself to on top of the rabbit, and ended it's life painlessly, with one swift bite to the neck. Sides heaving with the effort of tackling such a large piece of prey, she lowered her small, chisled head, and began to drag the fresh-kill back to her mentor. It didn't take long even for the tired apprentice to return to Moonpelt, and she dropped the latest addition to their catch pile beside the mouse. Twilightpaw was beginning to tire, but she didn't want to stop. Trying to shake away the weariness, she looked up at her mentor, eyes gleaming with pride. To tired to say much, she just kept on staring, hopefully he would get the approach, and say something.

A smile crept across his maw, as his apprentice had did exactly what he had asked, and he purred happily, "That was great, just perfect!" The tom paused for a mere second, eying the apprentice carefully and he came with the conclusion of stopping. She had begun to tire, as he could see, and the last thing he would want is to make Twilightpaw overdue anything. Looking down at his apprentice once more, he spoke, his voice clear as ever. " That's it for today. You did great, but you have to rest."
"If you could, can you fetch the mouse. while I carry your Rabbit?" The young warrior meowed quickly, fetching the rabbit. He gestured for Thornpaw to follow him back into the forest. His eyes glinted, with pride, a unmistaken glee that shone brightly. She would be great, and in time she would learn the ways of the warrior, as well as he did. It wasn't unmistaken, anyone could clearly see, that with practice she would become a warrior soon.

Very quietly, the young she-cat sighed with relief, she had begun to tire, training was so fun! If she had tireless energy, she would want to work with Moonpelt for moons on end! She bent over to grab the mouse, and took hold of it in her small jaw. Teeth clamped strongly on it to keep it from dropping, but not to strongly, she didn't want to return a mangled piece of prey to the fresh-kill pile!
The dead body of the prey was still warm, and the delicious aromas drifted up into her nostrils. Scarlet blood seeped into her mouth, making her fur prickle at the delightful flavour. As she began to follow her mentor, she directed her icy-blue orbs straight at his own eyes, and thanked him, as well as she could with a mouthfull of prey. "Mf-Thanks Moon-mph-pelt for-srm- everything!"
