The apprentice swung from the branch of a small oak tree. The net was wrapped around her chest, tangled aroundher footpaws and tied around her back and face. Fernpaw peered down, catching sight of a familiar face down below.
"Loudthunder!" she called, but the yowl came out as a breathy squeak. She gulped in air and yowled, "Loudthunder, get me down! I don't want to be taken! I don't! I don't! Don't let them take me please!" She squirmed in the net, it was drawing uncomfortably tight across her windpipe. Of course, as we all know, this action only served to tighten the net even further. Fernpaw's breath rasped in her throat as she struggled to breathe. "Hurry!" she called, but it came out as a small whisper.

Loudthunder looked up at the tree with the writhing cat within it. Oh StarClan! Its' choking her! He thought to himself, panic rising with every prospect. The sudden gasp for breath broke him loose of his momentary shock. "I'm coming Fernpaw!" He yowled up the tree. He darted back a few tail lengths away from the sharp oak, and then charged head on to meet it. Just as he was about to run into the trunk, he hurled himself into the air with tremendous force. Loudthunder slammed into the tree, the impact knocking the wind out of him. He looked down for a quick second and realized that he had jumped at least half way up the tree. He dug his claws into the bark and began to climb. Normally climbing isn't hard work for a cat, but some sort of vine that had been growing next to the old oak had spun itself around its' trunk. Sharp needle like thorns protruding from every angle making climbing extremely painful. He winced in pain as the the thorns scraped his flesh and bit into the pads of his paws. He suddenly felt the warm gushing of blood as it streamed from his paws turning every new step he took up the trunk red. But still he continued forward. Loudthunder kept his eyes on his goal the whole time. He was now closing in on the top part of the oak where Fernpaw was being held captive. Thankfully there was a branch hanging outabove the one Fernpaw was tied to. He climbed onto the branch very cautiously, barely making a sound. He reached one of his paws down to the ever tightening rope. He snapped the first cord with ease, only to see that it made Fernpaw drop lower. Loudthunder hesitated on the second cord, before finally snapping it. Once again Fernpaw dropped further still. Three cords left. He thought to himself nervously. He clipped the next two cords with his teeth, leaving one left. "Oh StarClan!" He muttered. "I'm so sorry Fernpaw, but this is the only way!" And with that, he snapped the cord. As soon as Loudthunder heard the twang of the rope as it snapped, he leaped at the falling bundle of fur, catching hold of it with the tips of his claws just before it landed. THUD! The net carrying Fernpaw landed on top of him and he knew no more...

Fernpaw shrieked as the net crashed to the ground, carrying her with it. She screeched in panic as Loudthunder hurled himself under the net, seemingly to soften the blow of the ground. The apprentice scrunched her eyes tight as the hard ground rushed up to meet her. She had forgotten the cord drawing mercilessly across her chest in her terror of becoming flattened into the hard, cracked ground.
A sudden thump sounded below her entangled paws. Partially stunned from the jolted landing, Fernpaw peeped through eyelids. A familiar pelt lay still underneath her. The she-cat bent down, only to have all connection with air suddenly cut off from her lungs. She sat back up, whimpering pitifully.
"Loudthunder?" she whispered, hoping that the worse had not happened. She leaned down again, fighting the hard pain drawing across her chest. "Loudthunder? Oh, please no! Loudthunder!" When she received no response, the apprentice began crying salty tears. Her one friend was gone.

As the darkness took him, the only thing he could think about was if Fernpaw was alright. Images were swirling around him. From the past and present. Well at least what was pressent a few minutes ago. They were all molded together in a big mass, swimming back and forth in his head. Is this StarClan? He wondered to himself. Staring in awe at everything around him. As though someone had been reading his thoughts, a voice spoke. "No, this is not, young warrior." Loudthunder spun around in the direction of the voice. "Whos' there!?!" He demanded. "A long forgotten warrior." The strange voice answered. "I don't understand your presence warrior. Why have you come here?" Loudthunder spoke shakily. "To tell you that this is not the time for you to leave ThunderClan." As the voice spoke, a flame colored pelt emerged from the shadows. "Firestar!" Loudthunder yowled with surprise. The tom just smiled at him, giving no response to his statement. "I've heard stories about you since I was a kit! The fire of ThunderClan! I want to ask you so much!" He commented. "The time for questions is not now. There will be plenty of time when you join our ranks. But now you have a very young apprentice who is mourning over you as we speak." The wise tom stated. "Fernpaw." Loudthunder meowed distantly. Suddenly the swirling pool of images were replaced by just one. There was Fernpaw just as the former leader had said. "Thankyou, for letting me come back to the light." Loudthunder spoke. But the old tom was no where to be seen. Just then a sudden flash of light caught him off guard. He gasped for air as his eyes met the light. It was a dream. He stated to himself. He looked up and saw Fernpaw in tears. "Fernpaw! Its alright now. I'm ok." He gasped stil laying on his side.

Fernpaw's tears quieted to a whimper, before she began to hiccup. "Loudthunder?" she whispered termulously, hardly daring to believe that the tom underneath her paws was speaking. Somber green eyes lit up in joy as the apprentice realized what had happened, she leaned down to give her friend an affectionate lick. Before the could reach the tom's gray pelt she recoiled, tears of rage and pain burning in her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she choked out, around a lethal coil of rope, "I would lick you, but I'm kinda tied up here." She tried to laugh, but the half-hearted giggle died away on her throat. "Now what?" she asked, gulping down a scream of panic as the air slowly----ever so slowly---filtered to her lungs.
She was about to suggest that Loudthunder reach up with his claws and slice the ropes, when a distant crashing reached her tuned ears. A vile stench blew towards her, causing her to screw up her nose in disgust and horror. Twoleg stench! Fernpaw called, "Loudthunder?" voice quavering.
((Hee hee! I'm so ebil!))

"Its ok Fernpaw." He wheezed. For the first time, he felt strangely weak and old... He didn't like this feeling at all, it somewhat scared him. Loudthunders' attention quickly went back to Fernpaw. Her gaze had focused on something deep in the forest. Although neither of them could see whatever it was yet, they could certainly smell it. He recognized the stench as it reached his scent glands. Fernpaw stated his fears just as he remembered. Twolegs! His eyes suddenly widened and his senses became fully alert. He had to get Fernpaw out of here now! The twoleg monster could now be heard in the distance, growing louder as it quickly made its way through the forest followed by sounds of twigs snapping and trees falling. Fernpaw's strangled breathing caught his attention. They had to get out of there now! He shakily pulled himself out from underneath the tangeled net. Swaying slightly as he stood. He wrapped his teeth around the last few cords that had been suffocating Fernpaw. Loudthunder bit down on them until they snapped and dragged the remains of the net off of the young apprentice. "Are you alright Fernpaw?" He asked quietly. Scared that she might be hurt.
Happy? Lol

((Yeah.))
Fernpaw blinked, her vision swimming in and out of focus. Darkness clouded her thoughts and fuddled her brain. The sickening tightness around her throat suddenly ceased, and the apprentice tumbled forward, not having the strength to catch herself.
Landing with a soft thud, the slim feline tumbled to a halt. Fernpaw took deep shuddering breaths, looking up at her mentor gratefully. "Thanks," she murmured.
To her alert ears, the sound of the Twoleg's were coming closer. She scrambled to her paws, looking wildly around in a panic. Already, oxygen was making her stronger. "What do we do, Loudthunder?" she queried.
((Aargh! Sorry, bad.))
