Sunpelt's coat seemed to flicker, as light bounced off of it. Her heart pounded, as she stepped into the clearing. She had planned to meet Graystreak here, and she couldn't wait. The she-cat heard a bird off in the distance, probably towards Tall Pines, but she ignored it. Her instinct told her to go run and hunt it down, but her heart told her to stay here and wait for Graystreak. And she listened to her heart, eager to be alone with her love once more. Times were always so busy, with new kits, apprentices, and so many hungry mouths to hunt for!
Sunpelt stepped onto a rock, and looked over at the River. There she saw a Riverclan tom swipe his paw into the river, flinging a fish into the air. Water sprayed everywhere, soaking the tom. The Riverclan warrior shook himself off, and hung his head low, walking back to camp. She knew that this must be his test alone, and he knew that his mentor had seen him fail. Sunpelt wanted to cry for the poor apprentice.
She stepped back down, hiding from the heat in the shade of the rocks. And she began to get impatient, as thoughts of Shadowheart slipped into her mind.
Where is he? Can't he see that I am waiting? Ugh. I should give him a good swipe across the forehead for this . A quick slap on the nose would snap him back to his senses! He is the most stupid furball I have ever seen!
But then Sunpelt remembered whom she was talking about. Her thoughts slipped back to the kind she-cat that she was, and she tried to change her mind, remembering how much she loved Greystreak.
