Tigereye and two other cats left camp on hunting patrol. They split up and agreed to meet back at the camp at dawn. Tigereye was pading threw the forest when he heard a mouse. He imidiately crouched to a hunting position and stalked foward until he was a fox length away and then he pounced on it giving it a final bite to the neck. When he was finished burying it he started towards twoleg place. He thought maybe he could hunt in their garden for starlings and voles. When he caught a good deal of fresh-kill, he was about to carry them off into the forest when he heard a sound from behind him. It was a kittypet. "Hello there. who are you and what are you doing here". Tigereye did'nt respond until a few moments later. "i was just hunting" he replied. "Well if my twolegs see you they will chase after you" she said. "Im sorry. It was only a one time thing. You see, during this time of year there is little prey in the forest and i came here to feed my clan."The she-cat was about to speak when they both heard a rustling in the bushes.

Firepelt padded out of the bushes. His eyes were slivers on his face, and they looked around suspiciously. It was unusual for Clan cats to be in Twoleg Place. The orange-pelted cat had watched Tigereye talk with the kittypet. Firepelt felt angry watching his fellow warrior tell the she-cat about the Clan's problems. The Clan didn't need help from kittypets, if that was what Tigereye was thinking.
"Tigereye! What do you think you're doing?" Firepelt growled. "You shouldn't be here, talking to this, this, kittypet!" he spat out the word, disgusted. Kittypets were looked down on for their dependance upon the Twolegs. They were weak and often dim-witted about the way of life non-kittypets lived. Not many ever survived in the forest, unless they ran away and became loners, or, like Firestar, became Clan cats. Even if a kittypet managed to accomplish these, however, it would still be a while before a Clan cat would trust them. Until they proved themselves, one never knew if they were truly dependable.
Firepelt stepped further out of the bushes. "Great StarClan! Do you know what trouble you would get into if word about this got out to Flamingstar? And even me! I could be accused of taking help from Twolegs and kittypets just for being here! Great StarClan, why did I decide to follow you!?" Firepelt asked himself outloud. He felt guilty just standing in Twoleg Place. He desperately wanted to get back to the safety of the forest and their camp.

Tigereye stared at firepelt in astonishment. "Why would you follow me. its not like you can't trust me." Tigereye was kind of mad that firepelt would follow him but he had to admitt that he was right. "Look, lets just take this fresh-kill back to camp and forget this ever happend." Tigereye regreted that he ever came here but he had to to keep the clan fed."Besides, we both kow the forest is no longer plentiful since leaf-bare is near. it was a one time thing firepelt."Tigereye was about to pick up the prey he had caught when the kittypet spoke. "Yea, if you ever come back i'll call for my twolegs". "shutup kittypet or i'll rip you to pieces" Tigereye snarled. "Come on firepelt, lets get out of here.

Firepelt nodded and looked suspiciously at the kittypet. Most kittypets, while weak, could be somewhat trusted. After all, they once knew Firestar as Rusty, one of their own. Most kittypets admired Clan cats for what they had that no kittypets would ever have. Stalking off to camp behind Tigereye, he still had his doubts. Tigereye was usually a straightforward cat, but one never knew.
"Listen, Tigereye. I understand how you could be trying to help the Clan. But we don't need kittypet food. We can survive through leaf-bare on our own without their help." Firepelt sighed. "I know you thought you were doing the best thing, but if I ever see you trying the same...." Firepelt hated how the words he was about to speak tasted in his mouth. He would never want to betray another cat's confidence in him. But if it was for the best of the Clan....
"Look, if you're ever back there, I'll know something's up. Maybe I won't know what, but I will have to tell Flamingstar. It's for the best of the Clan, right?"
