It was a fine misty morning that saw Bluedancer emerge from the warrior’s den, her sleek silver tabby body blending with the fog that now rolled off the river. She stretched languorously, her rump up in the air and paws outstretched, kneading the earth underneath her claws. Her mouth opened to reveal the pink tongue inside, curling upwards to run over her fangs. Licking the sides of her mouth contentedly, she arose and paced around the den once, observing the camp as she did so. It was still fairly early on in the day, with the sun just now burning away the river mist, but the camp was over run with activity. Choosing a small hollow next to the entrance of the den, Bluedancer sat down and curled her thick tail around herself, covering her paws with the tip.
Her dark green orbs surveyed the area around herself, nose twitching slightly as she took in the scents. Lifting a white paw, Bluedancer began to groom herself absentmindedly. She thought longingly of hunting, her eyes following a warrior and apprentice as the left to go on this very task; Bluedancer did not know any of the Riverclan cats well, having arrived into the clan at a rather late age, and spending her moons as an apprentice working doubly hard to make up for it. Now that was coming back to haunt her, as she looked around forlornly, wishing she one of the cats well enough to ask them to go hunting.

Amber occulates surveyed the gray and whited pelted she-cat closely from the dark expanse of the shadows of her den, disappearing from view every now and then as the owner of the twin pools allowed herself to blink. It wasn't easy, not being Clan born. But look at herself now- the leader of the Clan she was brought into by her mother at a time of desperation and hopelessness. The feline rarely slept, always thinking that Clan life was a simple fantasy, and if she closed her eyes for more than the time it takes to blink that it would disappear before her very eyes. Betrayal by her own two occulates. It was simply a vision, a fantasy, a dream.Nothing more. Taintedstar would hold onto it for a lifetime though, if she had to.A dream? So be it. As long as she stayed in her dreamland long enough to enjoy it.Weariness started to settle down upon her, and she closed her eyes to allow her self a short rest before the lids snapped open again.Another chance of sleep lost to her cautious paranoia. Two audits swiveled as one when she heard the ripping of the earth from the ground. She knew it! Betrayal, betrayal. It was all a fantasy...All a dream that was never meant to be.
No, wait. Her ears were decieving her. She calmed ever so slightly as she realized that the 'ripping of the earth' was simply one of RiverClan's warriors kneading her claws upon the ground of the warrior's den. The loner-born, Bluedancer. Optics narrowed, the RiverClan leader switched her auburn gaze onto a passing pair of cats, an apprentice and its mentor, probably going out for a hunt. Silence once more rested upon the camp as the two left, and the kneading of claws upon the soft ground stopped. The she-cat's solid stare once more snapped to the gray and white warrior as the distraction passed, and she once more returned to her deep thoughts of the simple fantasy of Clanlife. Peace upon the forest could never last. There had to be something exciting going on at the time, and she would be missing it.No, again. Absolutely nothing was going on at the time.A sigh escaped her maw, and her gaze traveled once more around the camp. Many warriors were either lounging lazily around in the warmth of the sun, or talking in rushed, quiet whispers near the dens. Clan gossip was swirling around in hushed words and excited meows, either about some rumor about so-and-so, or about the other Clans. Whatever. The Maine Coon wasn't especially interested in her Clan's gossip. It was mostly false anyway. With another bored sigh, the leader closed her eyes and tried to get some peace from her troubled mind.

It seemed that the Riverclan camp had quieted down, all patrols and hunters going about their assigned business. Unfortunately, that left Bluedancer with nothing whatsoever to keep her occupied. Unlike most cats, she hated those few times in which the warriors were allowed to go about as they pleased, without a schedule or assigned tasks. The feeling of not working, of doing nothing whatsoever to help her clan, left her confused and a bit helpless, as she tried to figure out what else there was to do, besides hunt and patrol. Not much, it seemed, for she was at a complete loss as to what she might do in this hated free time.
Sighing despondently, Bluedancer resumed her worried pacing, not bothering to branch out from her worn circle around the warrior’s den. Her paws beat out a steady rhythm against the ground, and for a few long moments she found herself lost in that rhythm, whiskers twitching a little in time to it. Stopping abruptly, she shook her head and dispersed the distracting thoughts from her mind, pulling herself back to the present. Of late, it seemed that she could not focus on life for more than a few moments, before something or other of mild interest drew her attention away. It was not the best way for a warrior to be behaving, and Bluedancer silently chided herself for it. From now on, she told herself firmly, she would make an effort to stay focused only on life at present, and stop her incessant daydreaming.
With this last confidant thought held in her mind, Bluedancer turned to survey the camp proudly, wishing that she had someone to share her new found resolve with. Wrinkling her nose at the empty clearing, she harrumphed to herself and sat down, the tip of her tail twitching. Looking around again, a glimmer of movement from the leader’s den caught her eyes, just the tiniest flash of silken tabby fur near the entrance. Blinking, she realized it must be Taintedstar herself, watching the camp just as she had been a few moments before. Bluedancer felt a slight sense of embarrassment wash over her, for her body language had been enough to clearly convey to the leader how bored she was.
Grooming her chest fur absentmindedly, Bluedancer strolled over to Taintedstar, hopping up the few stones that raised her den above the rest of the encampment. Eyeing the leader anxiously, she coughed quietly to announce her presence. “Hello, Taintedstar,” she mewed amiably, the corners of her eyes crinkling slightly in a smile. “I was just wondering, if I might go out on my own to hunt? I know we go in at least pairs most of the time, but I really would like to do something helpful… and besides, I’m a warrior now.” She added this last bit proudly, though Taintedstart obviously knew of this fact, having performed her ceremony. Still, warriors sometimes hunted on their own, and Bluedancer felt that a nudging reminder of this wouldn’t hurt.
