Crystalrain's beautiful body and swift legs were dripping with blood. Her fluffy calico fur still gleamed with blood both hers and her enemy's. Right now that was a fierce ugly badger. As Crystalrain leaped at its neck you could see her muscles straining. Crystalrain's clan and herself had already brought down three badgers leaving them tired and weak. At least nobody had died but the badgers and only one remained. A sound of clashing claws, baring teeth, and blood sprayed as she collided with the badger. Crystalrain had knocked it of balance but it sprang back up more angry.
She got behind the badger and ripped at its flesh until it turned around and smack her hard to the ground. Crystalrain felt dizzy but got back up. I am not going to let a dumb badger destroy my clan she thought. Blood gleamed on her pretty fur, the fighting cats, and the forest floor.
Standing up Crystalrain came back to her senses. She was ready to pounce when she heard pounding footsteps. Thank StarClan its our leader she thought. Then she jumped with yet another death blowing blow for any cat but not this badger.

However, not all the warriors were fighting. Unlike all the others, Spiderbreath kept herself close to the back of the warrior's den, hiding the best she could with her bright, flaming coat in the deep shadows of interwoven branches. Golden eyes glinted warily as she watched the crimson blood tainting the ground, the flailing limbs of furious cats as they harshly lashed the badger that had happened upon their camp. She did not want to be caught out there, in the heat of battle. She held on to her life, and did not want to lose it so easily, under the crushing paw of a badger. But it wasn't the only reason she was there, low to the ground, thin and frail body buried under the piles of soft, green moss. She just didn't want to take part in the killing of the badger. A badger was not a hunted; it was a hunter. It was as if they were killing a fellow cat. Yes, the badgers stole and devoured the kits, but did felines not kill and eat the parents of possible young rabbits, mice, voles and all the rest? Why didn't they just drive the badger out? It was massacre. Pure, simple massacre. So many cats against one single lone badger. Spiderbreath rolled to her side, shoulders hunched over her ears to hide the terrible yowls and low, grunting screams of the agonizing predator. She'd never acted to passionate. A tear even rolled down her cheek, turning her pelt darker as it streaked swiftly down. The she-cat snorted, shaking her head irritably. She couldn't understand it.

((Spiderbreath there was one other badgers attacking the clan too but they either were killed or ran off.))
Crystalrain fell to the ground when an idea struck her. If the could get the badger out of camp then so many cats wouldn't get hurt. She leaped up and yowled "drive the badger out of camp. Lure it to the exit and block the way in." Crystalrain began trotting to the exit trying to make the badger come. A giant paw then pinned her to the ground and she yelped with pain.
Blood dripped down her fluffy fur shimmering in the sun. Crystalrain bit the paw and struggled but the grip was tight. Then another cat ripped at the badgers back and the it let her go. Crystalrain leapt up now watching the badger closly as she walked her graceful legs stretching across the forest floor to the exit.

Rapidstar leapt with a fury out of her den. She yowled loudly, her voice echoing across the clearing. Rapidstar saw that a badger had pinned her deputy, Crystalrain to the ground, and her fury intensified. Her pupils were small, dilated in her dislike. A badger had wiped out her whole family, and this one would pay. Her scream of rage attracted the badger's attention, and he looked up, his large paw still on her deputy. The badger hardly had time to think before she ran full pelt into the sid of its lowered head. Quickly, she dodged away, and again, leapt upon the badger, this time on its back. She felt wiry black-and-white fur tearing through her thorn sharp claws, mixed with chunks of flesh and blood. She reached another paw up, to repeat the blow, but the badger reared up, this time with his own bellow of rage. His sudden wrath flung her halfway across the camp, where she landed with a solid humph, as if she had been struck in her stomach. Blood pounded in Rapidstar's ears, and time seemed to come to a stand-still. Rapidstar felt a warm, sickly sensation at the brim of her forehead. She suddenly remembered in full detail her last fight with a badger. A fight that happened when she was still Rapidkit. Rapidkit's white-gray fur could be seen bobbing up and down through the brambles in the nursery. She was trying to defeat the "evil" feather she had found. Her tiny unsheathed claws kicked up small chunks of dirt, and her tiny mewls sounded more like a kit's begging rather than a warrior's warcry. She was not alone in that nursery, however. She had her two brothers and her sister, but her mother was outside with her father, eating fresh-kill. There was an elder queen in the nursery, watching over them, although she mostly slept. One of her brothers, a big black fluffy kit, was playing with her. He was Rapidkit's favorite sibling, because he would most often play with her. His name was Cometkit, for his white patch on his underbelly. Rapidstar's other brother was Ironkit, for his gray pelt, and her sister was Doovekit, for her soft nature. Dovekit, and Ironkit were both sleeping next to the elder queen, Blizzardmist. Cometkit was watching Rapidstar play with her feather, his usually bright blue eyes glazed over in boredom. Rapidstar finally managed to pin the feather to the ground beneath her cloud-light paws, and twig-like claws. She was about to let out a mewl of triumph, when she heard a yowl from outside the den. Blizzardmist immediately woke with a start, and glanced around the den. "I'll be back," she said in a quiet voice, and slipped through the brambles in the nursery. Suddenly, a moment or two after Blizzardmist had exited, Rapidkit's mother streamed in, her eyes frozen in fear. Quickly, she rounded up her kits, and kept them beneath her. The family stayed like that, trembling, for a few minutes, only to Rapidkit, it seemed like hours. There was a great tearinb sound, and the ugliest black-and-white snout Rapidkit had ever seen poked through the brambles. The thing quickly picked up on their fear-scent, and soon pushed it's way through. Rapidkit heard her mother whisper, and barely made out the word. Badger! Rapidkit quickly wriggled out from underneath her mother, and lauched herself at the badger's face. The badger shook her off as if she were no more than a stray leaf blown by a wind into his face. Rapidkit was thrown into the brambles of the nursery, and got stuck. Wriggle as she may, she only got herself more stuck. She could only watch helplessly as the badger killed her mother, then killed her brother, Ironkit, then her sister, Dovekit. As the badger reached for Cometkit's trembling form, Rapidkit's father appeared, and futilely(sp?) tried to fight the badger. Soon, he too was dead next to her family. The badger picked up Cometkit in his teeth, and crashed back out of the nursery. She never saw Cometkit again, though she found a mess of black fur and blood on the ground not to far from camp later. Rapidstar had seen what a badger could do, and did not want it hurting any of her clan, especially its queen, Hazelfern. Out of the corner of her eye, Rapidstar saw Hazelfern lingering at the edge of the fight. She looked as if she did not know whether she should help defend her clan, or save her kits. Rapidstar got back up on her feet, the blood still pounding in her ears, and the world snapped back into motion. "Go to the nursery!" barked Rapidstar to Hazelfern. She did not have time, however to see if Hazelfern obeyed, because she heard Crystalrain shout out again to drive the badger out. Rapidstar's gaze flew over to the badger, lumbering towards her. Thinking quickly, Rapidstar's silvery-gray form flashed over to the camp entrance. Would the brute follow her? ((Jeez that took a long time. Oh, and Crystalrain, there were only 2 badgers. 1 the clan has killed, and this one we are driving away.))

((Ooops... forgot I posted in this topic. Sorreh Crystal >_>))
Amber eyes flickered to a movement coming in from the side, seeking to find whatever had made the motion. Rapidstar, their Leader, streaked from her den towards the badger, her shrieking yowl of rage and fury echoing sharply inside Spiderbreath's ears. Eyes moved again, to where the badger was, and she saw Crystalrain, the Deputy, pinned down to the earth by a heavy forepaw. Hackles raised in fear, pupils dilated to mere slits as she continued watching, more and more horrified by the ferocity with which each cat present fought... except herself. She shook her head again. If she went out there, she would be killed. She surely would. It was inevitable. Another sound reached her ears, making her attention veer swiftly back to the battle-scene. She couldn't see Rapidstar anymore. The she-cat seemed to have disappeared from view. But then, once more just on the outskirts of her vision, she perceived movement. There was the Leader. She had practically flown halfway across the camp and landed on the ground, head bleeding. The badger was still on the other side of camp, but wasn't pinning Crystalrain down anymore. Instead, it lumbered towards the Leader, its stumpy pads landing heavily upon the beaten ground of the camp. Another cry, this time directed towards the new queen, Hazelfern, telling her to stay in the nursery. Then Rapidstar padded quickly to the camp's entrance, obviously trying to get the badger out of camp while it was time. And Spiderbreath still did not go and fight alongside them.
((Oh yeh. I'm going to announce Hazel's kits today. And blaghblurghughmyomg. Horrible stinkin' short post. I'm dead xP))

There was a streak of ruddy orange fur as the ShadowClan medicine cat dashed to her Clan's deputy. She held a wad of cobwebs in a front paw and in her mouth were the small leaves of a marigold to help the wounds and started to chew them fervently. While at the same time making sure she didn't swallow any leaves or juices, she looked around at the scene around. The badger was leaving, following... Who was it following? Dawnstorm had been so caught up in helping other cats, she hadn't paid any attention to the one leading it away; her Leader.
The leaves were mashed as much as they should so the wounds would get the most of their healing blood. Dawnstorm spread them on Crystalrain's wounds and tentatively (sp?) prod them so they would ooze a bit more before she cleared them away to dress the deputy in cobwebs.

Skytail looked out on the ruckus. He had been out hunting, and sadly too far away to help. He hung his head low, eyes in disbelief. He loved a fight, but he never got one. There would always be someone who shooed it away first. His ears pricked to find any slight sign of a battle worth fighting. He was half-hoping that the badger would come back, so he could show his loyalty to his clan, and wouldn't look like such a coward. They already had their disbeliefs against him. He needed to stop sneaking off to see his Windclan sister, but their kinship was truly more to him than the Clan. But that was all changing now. He was no longer a limpy little warrior. He was getting older. More wiser. And sadly, the cats whom trusted him were less and less every moon. He wanted to change that. ((eek skimpy post))
"Is there anything I can do to help Dawnstorm?" Skytail asked politely.

((My last post was too small. Sorry.))
Dawnstorm glanced up at Skytail. Where was he? No time!
The medicine cat nodded and said, "Can you help me put the cobwebs on her? We need to put as little as we can, for I'm running low."
The she-cat took a little piece out of the wad with her sharp teeth and pressed it on one of the deputy's gashes. Using her free forepaw, Dawnstorm made sure it was as sturdy as she could make it with one paw.
For a second, she stopped and glanced over her shoulder. The badger was still following a cat out of the camp. They same cats were wounded, but none as badly as Crystalrain. The same fur and blood spattered the ground. A dead badger. All the same, except one thing. She looked at the warrior beside her and asked, "Skytail, have you seen Rapidstar?"
But Skytail needn't have answered, if he did, because she knew with a growing feeling of horror, that her leader had drawn it out. Alone.

Skytail nodded. Being a warrior, this wasn't his duty, but the clan needed his help at this point. He pressed the slightly sticky webs onto the open gash, and sighed. When he heard Dawnstorm's question, he lifted his head in fear. Where was their mighty leader? ((I think that it is driven))
He stood there, kneeling down beside Crystalrain. With growing wonder and horror, he figured out the truth. Their leader had driven out the badger. And without any help beyond that. What would happen if Rapidstar didn't return? He didn't see the noble leader nearby, and what would happen... if Crystalrain took place as Crystalstar? But Skytail shook his head. He knew Rapidstar was better than that. He just feared that the leader wasn't smart enough to know not to face a badger alone.

Crystalrain leaped up ashamed for being the only one helped. "Don't help me I'm fine. Help the others," she spat. Her fluffy fur still gleamed with blood but she sped off after her leader. This was her clan and she was going to help. Crystalrain ran her feet barely touching the forest floor as her graceful strong legs streched over the ground.
The badger was already out of the camp but was attacking her leader. Crystalrain's filled with rage and could only hear the blood rushing in her ears. Her emerald green eyes no longer sparkling but flickering with anger stared at the badger. Crystalrain took no time and pounced straight for the badger's neck. Blood splattered and she was thrown to the floor. Now her fur gleamed with the badger's blood not hers. Her enemy was greatly injured but not dead.

Skytail nodded in respect. He understood what it must be like, being deputy. Alot of responsibility. You are depended on my your clan, and they need you. But no cat is perfect. He knew Crystalrain was hurt. If he had fought, he would have been hurt. Crystalrain had served her clan by sacrificing her life. She was lucky, as was every member of the fight, that they were not dead.
Skytail shivered at the thought of a limp body lieing bare on the grass, the wind ruffling the fur, with nothing more than a sack of bones and fur to hold the corpse aloof. But these were not Shadowclan cats. A loyal warrior would sacrifice their life, but a true warrior would fight bravely, and skillfully, with scratches and gashes, but barely a wound to remember. Barely a wound to die for.

Rapidstar had padded out of the camp, not to far away. The badger at first had slowly lumbered towards her, then picked up speed as its killing instinct picked up. The black and white beast was on her soon enough, this time pinning her to the ground, a large forepaw on her chest, pressing the air out of her lungs. Just when Rapidstar felt that her chest was about to snap, she dug her teeth into the ugly brute's forepaw. It recoiled with a sharp yelp, quite uncharacteristic of such a large animal, and Rapidstar quickly leapt away, oxygen flooding into her lungs. She felt a huge ache in her chest, as she circled the badger, looking at it for a weakness. She noticed that the ground around one of it's forepaws was soaked in red blood. She must've dug in farther than she thought. The badger sat nursing it a while, then suddenly lunged at her, knocking her over, and making her hit a nearby tree. The breath was knocked out of her, and her body froze. Rapidstar watched with growning dread as she realized that the badger would soon kill her. Not even StarClan could heal a cat with its guts ripped out! Abruptly, Rapidstar saw a pelt flash past, a fire burning in its bright jade eyes. She recognized the pelt as her deputy, Crystalrain, as soon as she came to a halt, after attacking the badger. Rapidstar leapt up, and slipped over to stand beside her deputy. "I'll attack from the front if you'll circle around back," she whispered, plotting to send the badger running. ((Brave, mighty leader? Kewl! ))

Crystalrain nodded to her leader and began circling the badger's back. A train of thoughts then struck her. I saved my leader's life. If I hadn't come she would be dead, Crystalrain thought to herself. Her emerald eyes then gleamed with pride and her silver fur shimmered in the sun's rays. She then saw the badger trying to smash Rapidstar. Crystalrain lept right on its neck were she had already damagedthe badger. Her sharp fangs and claws ripped with all her muscles and power until she was thrown off by giant paw. Crystalrain landed on her graceful legs quite amazed with her eyes still shining but now with anger and pride. It was now time to use her skills she was taught as an apprentice.
Crystalrain rolled under the badgers legs trying to confuse it. She crawled out from under quite safe and lunged at its tail. It squeled with pain and turned around trying to lash at Crystalrain but she was to fast and was already behind it. The badger was much weaker now and Crystalrain was surprised it didn't run away yet.

((Okay... You could say you saved my life... And just to let you know more about badgers, they look like this. Aka, a cat can't run under them.)) Rapidstar hissed in the badger's face as it screamed in pain from Crystalrain's attack. Her white pelt dashed from side to side, in an attempt to confuse the badger. Fortunately, it worked. The badger lashed out first to one side, then the other, as it grew more and more aggravated at this moon-colored cat. The badger let out a growl of its own, and struck out with its massive claws. Rapidstar easily dodged the blow, and knew the badger was tiring; it was moving much more sluggishly now. Rapidstar's unsheathed claws reached out at the badger's face and retreated just as quickly. It looked as if a flash of white lightning had struck the badger, emnating(sp?) from Rapidstar's leg. Across the badger's face was a deep bloody gash, where three parallel tears shone, a mark of the ShadowClan leader's claws. Rapidstar's silver-blue eyes shone with hatred, and her very expression would be enough to send any sane cat running. As if on cue, the badger squealed blindly in pain, and stumbled through the underbrush, leaving the two cats in the clearing, still panting from the bloody battle. The flame in Rapidstar's eyes suddenly flickered out, and back on again, looking like a faulty magic Twoleg light. Rapidstar sat down, her exhilaration from the battle now gone. With a last hopeful flicker, the fire behind her eyes was extinguished. Rapidstar sat panting, and waited for the feeling of helplessness to pass. Oh why, oh why couldn't I save my family...((If you want the badger back, go ahead...))

Relief flooded over Crystalrain as the badger rummaged away. She sat down exausted but knew she would have to go back to camp and see the Medicine Cat. The last rays of sun shone down on her fur turning it a brillant silver. Her green eyes glowed with pride and tiredness as she turned her gaze to her leader. "We should get back to camp," Crystalrain mewed gently while breathing heavily for air. Her whole body felt hot even though the air around was cold. She stood up her legs trembling at her own weight and started padding slowly back to camp. She only had one large gash on her flank that glistened with blood and some small ones that would heal perfectly fine. She looked behind her to see if Rapidstar was coming than faced toward the camp entrence. She was very happy to be back it felt like moons since she had been here.
((sorry its short not much to work with and I don't want the badger back..))
