((Yeah, and I'm glad Hazel has a goal other than just walk around be happy and helpful all the time. That would have gotten boring pretty quick))
Hazelblaze was surprised by the reply he was given. Was it really possible for a change to start happening that quickly? Yes, but he certainly hadn't expected that to be the case with Spiderbreath. Well, it didn't really matter how long it took to happen, as long as it happened, right? Blinking a few times to clear his mind, the tom decided on how he wanted to answer.
"I think I'd like to go back to camp."
Decisive but not bossy or demanding, just what he'd been aiming for. With a small smile and a nod, he turned and headed over to where he'd buried his catch. Taking the mouse in his jaws, Hazelblaze turned to the she-cat. When he'd woke up that morning he couldn't have guessed he would make a new friend, if you could refer to the bond they now shared as that. It was truly amazing how some things worked out. One moment he unintentionally had Spiderbreath cowering in fear, then the next, after he answered what might have seemed like a simple question, he had earned her trust and given her hope. Did StarClan see this happening, or were they as surprised as he was? There was so much to think about, but first, they were going home.
((Sorry it took so long XD))

((Neh, ish okee :3 I just lurve this RP, I do.))
An inward sigh of quiet relief blew inside Spiderbreath's mind as the answer was given to her, and she let herself relax in the tom's presence. They were going back to camp, exactly where she wanted to be. As he stood up on his legs, the brightly-hued she-cat watched him pad to the two holes where they had buried their fresh-kill, and hefted her own body to its feet slowly as she approached her catch. Rubbing the loose dirt away with a single paw, and taking the prey gently in her strong jaws, she looked up at Hazelblaze, blinking in a somewhat unsure gratitude. A faint smile crossed her marked face, and she let a small nod shake her amber head, golden eyes closing momentarily. Then she opened them again, the smile on her face slightly wider at the fact that the tom was still there, seemingly waiting for her. All thoughts about him previously, everything that had crossed her mind a few moments ago, all that was pushed far away, and she was only left with the silent innocence of a cat who has not yet truly experienced real life.
"Let's go home," she finally whispered, voice less raspy than usual. She padded slowly towards the tom, smile still on her face, and touched his shoulder with her tail in a thankful gesture. Then she stood, waiting for him to come, to follow, or to lead, whichever. At least she was not returning alone.

((me too ^_^))
Padding up beside Spiderbreath, the tom flicked his tail, signaling for her to follow, then waiting to match her pace. It was time to leave the rancid odors and gloomy appearance of Carrion Place behind. Time to return to ShaodwClan's camp, the place where he'd grown up, filled with all the cats he knew and cared for. Home. Nothing described camp better than that one simple word. That is where they were headed, every step taking them closer. Though they hadn't been gone very long, it would feel good to be back in camp. He smiled through the mouse in his mouth and glanced over at Spiderbreath. It was good to be with another cat, even if they didn't talk. Hazelblaze hadn't been lying when he said he enjoyed the company. It just felt right to have another cat by his side, like that was how it was supposed to be. His smile widened and he almost dropped the rodent he had clamped in his strong jaws as a thought came to mind.
"Want to race?"
There was a mischievous glint in his amber optics as he asked the question, voice slightly muffled from trying to speak around his catch. Yes, as kittish as it might have seemed, he wanted to do it, just for fun. The thrill of dashing across ShadowClan territory in the mad attempt to arrive back at camp first just seemed like a good idea at the moment.

As Spiderbreath padded forward, she relished the feeling of companionship blossoming in her heart. Walking beside another cat, a tom, heading for home and a warm den, and even the silence was not as oppressive as it used to be. It was a soft silence, that, even though it was quiet, whispered thoughts into your ear. The she-cat's smile widened considerably, and she sighed contentedly, golden orbs roving over the scenery around her. It was all so much brighter, so much more full now that she... she felt full herself. Her heart was slowly rebuilding, replacing the missing bits with what should be there, pushing that strange, overpowering fear farther and farther away from her relaxing mind. And then the question came. Spiderbreath knew it was all a game, but it was going a bit fast for her. A glow of hesitation entered the deep yellow of her oculars, and she opened her maw to deny the offer, but something stopped her, as if a voice had murmured to her 'might as well try'. She shrugged, trying to push this impression away, but still had to answer. So, unlocking her jaws again, she spoke her reply, a faint smile of amusement and mischief playing across her lips, something so rare and unusual in a cat as inhibited that even she was surprised by her own attitude.
"Sure. You're on."

The smile on Hazelblaze's face widened again, an action that was barely possible. It had been a long time since he'd played a game, not since his mid-apprenticeship. Serving his Clan had seemed like all that mattered, all that he needed. Where had this sudden urge to race come from? Glancing at Spiderbreath, he prepared himself to start the dash back to camp.
"On your mark, get set, go!"
As the tom said the last word, his powerful hind legs sent him flying forward in a great leap. He kept his body low to the ground, his ears down, the mouse in his jaws held in place firmly. His surroundings flew past him as he hurtled across ShadowClan's territory. Faster, faster, he told himself. Faster! It was thrilling to have an excuse to run recklessly toward camp, sending prey running for it's life. Where had his kithood gone? It seemed to end at the moment he was taken by his father. It had ended too soon.
When the camp entrance came into view Hazelblaze came to a stop. He looked around, trying to locate the multi-colored she-cat. Could she have beat him here?

"Beat ya."
The strange she-cat slipped out from beneath the bushes bordering ShadowClan's camp, bright brown-streaked fur shining in the sunlight that fell on its thin tendrils. Whiskers twitched in amusement as a faint smile, though grin would be more like it if it had been any bigger, crept up the side of her barred features. Golden orbs twinkled merrily as she padded quietly towards the tom, small paws making no sound on the soft, moldable ground, leaving thin tracks to follow, though these were quickly engulfed by water and mud seeping out from the earth. She stopped beside Hazelblaze, tail flicking this way and that, and touched his shoulder with her nose in what she seemed to be hoping was a comforting way. Then she turned back, facing the camp once more, and looked over her shoulder, waiting for him, a faint light of hope still glowing in the unfathomable depths of her oculars. It was as if she was apologising for winning, as if it had been a bad thing to do, and it was all her fault. Well, if it had been something naughty or against the Code, it would have been her fault. But nothing really said you couldn't win. Maybe it was because she didn't want to make the tom feel sad about losing against her when it was her first time, or because she hadn't really wanted to win, because it would boost her hopes too much, just for them to be crushed when she lost next time. Head cocked to the side, she stared imploringly at him, and then slipped through the entrance, standing still on the other side. She would still wait.

With a smile, Hazelblaze followed Spiderbreath. Yes, he was slightly disappointed that he lost, but it wasn't as if the world would end because he lost. Life would go on, as it always did. Besides, it had been the thrill of the race that he enjoyed most, bounding recklessly toward camp in the hope that he just might get there first. Also, deep down he felt that the she-cat deserved to win, though he didn't know why. Spiderbreath being victorious in the end seemed like the way the hunt should end, like the way any competition should end. Like so many other things that had happened that day, it just seemed right.
The tom paused a moment as a thought crossed his mind. True, he had never been a sore loser, never could be one. That would never change. Some how, he had changed on that short hunt, though he couldn't guess how. He only knew it was for the better. No longer would he worry about the blood-thirsty cat he might have become. That fear was gone like a leaf on the wind, and now, they were home.
