OOC: Thought so! IC: Rosepaw nodded. "I'll bring back a crow feather. It shouldn't be too hard." She was panicking on the inside. One thing a kit was taught never to do was go on the Thunderpath alone. Even apprentices shouldn't try. But she wanted these kits to like her. She would do whatever it took. "Anything else you want?" This way was safer. She could sense that Darkness was a little impressed. She knew better than to say anything though. Best to wait until after the crow feather. Then the kits should like her. Then she would laugh.
Amberwind sighed. This apprentice was brave. But she was also foolish! Crossing the Thunderpath alone at night! Going into enemy territory! If she was caught, she would be dead! As the elders said, the cold northern winds blew on the ShadowClan cats' hearts. "I'll make sure that no cat finds out." Amberwind was surprised as she spoke. She had been silent for a while now. But now she had spoken. Gathering up her dignity, she said, "Rosepaw, good luck, you may need it." The eldest cat left the nursery to go back to the cat she had been sharing tongues with, leaving Rosepaw and the kits alone.

Completely ignoring Amberwind, Darkness closed her eyes, raising a single unsheathed claw to the moist tip of her nose, seemingly pondering this next step as slowly as an elder would. She silently tapped the claw onto the black surface of this particular sensor, the tension and nervosity growing inside her brother's mind [though he only looked nonchalant and indifferent as he sneered at the departing warrior's proposed back], and then finally settled her paw back onto firm ground, grinning as she let her lids slip back up her eyes half of the way, giving an obviously unsettling scornful grimace as she answered in a drawling voice that practically went on and on. "Oh... not really. Go on and do your task. I'll be waiting." Her leering smile widened at her last words, and eyebrows rose up her forehead in total unison, adding an extra touch of mockery to her expression. Though she didn't show it, and it wasn't possible that Rosepaw could ever see it, she had been satisfied with the older she-cat's answer. She did not whine pitifully about the fact that no Clan cats except ones of ShadowClan were allowed on the other side of the Thunderpath, or that it was much too dangerous going out in the way of the monsters at a time as late as this, or that she might get caught by a patrol. But then, in the opposite direction, she did not treat Darkness' decision as pitiful and too easy for the likes of herself. That got her an extra point in the younger kit's books. Still grinning, the ebony female flicked her muzzle towards the camp entrance, signifying that Rosepaw should go, or she would fail even before having started.

Amberwind rolled her eyes and left the nursery, leaving her apprentice to deal with this dare. She prayed to StarClan that she would be all right. If not, then she would be in trouble. Amberwind would sit up and wait for her apprentice to come back. As she sat down to share tongues, she worried about her apprentice. If she never came back, what would she do? She felt the love that all menotrs had for apprentices well up in her. There was a chance that they would never meet. And then she would have failed her leader. And her apprentice, and her mission; Amberwind sighed. Rosepaw nodded and headed out. She was on her way. StarClan would be with her. She padded out into the chillier night air and headed toward the entrance of the camp. It was now or never. Rosepaw could go back and beg for forgiveness. But she had never been one to back down. Her head held high for the kits watching, she took a deep breath and left. It flet like a big step, but it really wasn't. She was on her way.

The wiry black female snorted at Rosepaw's proud pose, scorning the way that the older female tried to show that she was unafraid of her task. That lowered her another notch. No point in gaining points if you were just going to waste them right after getting them, no? Darkness sent one last mocking sneer in the apprentice's direction, soon imitated by Cinder, both young kits glaring with orange and silver eyes at the departing feline's back, their harsh gaze strong enough to deter a fox. If looks could kill, Rosepaw would look like swiss cheese by then. Then both siblings returned to their own business, looking for something else to do. The argument and placement of the task had occupied their time for a while, but now that both had come and gone, they didn't really know exactly what to do. Of course, neither actually showed it: the tiny she-kit was staring wide-eyed at the moon again, like a young one who sees that great sphere of silver for the very first time, and the older, burlier male was once again letting his gaze sweep over the camp with a disinterested expression on his cold, blank features. Did it matter if they knew not what they should do at that particular moment? Not really. Or, at least, not to them. After all, what were occupations but another form of being bored? Anyway, thoughts skittered through both of their minds, taking enough concentration to leave them occupied. Darkness was pondering what would happen when Rosepaw came back, and what exactly she was doing right then. Perhaps she'd gotten lost. That was a nice thought. Cinder, on the other hand, was wondering about what he would say at the older female's return. Maybe he'd just be silent about it. Darkness might agree on a truce if the she-cat completed the assignment, but just might not on the pretext that Rosepaw had severely exasperated her. She did that often. Whatever it would be, he was sure it was going to be interesting.
